Thanks for sharing your observations.

I also got involved with my county GOP about two years ago, after I retired. I did it for some of the same reasons mentioned above.

I was a delegate at the county, district and state conventions. I didn’t qualify for national delegate because this was my first time as a delegate. I don’t think I would have run even if I qualified. I was on the district platform committee, though. Wow, what an experience. That was a long day.

I’m glad I participated in all of this. We can’t influence anything if we don’t get involved. The majority of my state GOP is America First. Our state chair was selected to introduce Trump at the national convention.

I will participate again in two years. It’s worth it to learn and understand how things work.

The junior delegates at district and state conventions were very enthusiastic and encouraging.

Well said - I loved the "personal" stories because these are the workhorses, and more needs to be said about them. More importantly, the focus needs to be on them. Trump and his homage to the fallen firefighter is magnificent - that's why we (workhorses) love him so much. He may not be able to recognize us individually, but he knows we're there, and he reaches and talks to who we are. Just like J. D. Vance and his "culture in crisis," shipping all those "workhorse" jobs overseas made us weak and dependent on others, while it attacked a whole class of our society that is moral, decent, has common sense, and grounded in reality. When you take that class away, you have the entitles and slaves - neither one is particularly beholding to anything that will elevate them to a higher calling.

Thank you for the observations and honest assessment

Hopefully the majority has the resolve and stamina to run the marathon not just the sprint

Thanks Darin,

Good read! Several friends of mine got back to Oklahoma today. Me and several others came extremely close to being elected delegates/alternate delegates at our state convention in May. Had we succeeded, OK would have been almost entirely grassroots delegates

Thank you for your observations, Darin. I have become quite disillusioned by the Republican Party in the recent past even after a fairly active participation in our locality. It seems like many of the positions taken up by the officials involve too much compromise resulting in abandoning righteous principles. Positions on Israel and Ukraine have split the people into factions and a turning away from the duty of leadership to further the best for our people and our land not foreign countries that we should not be getting mixed up in. Our main response is to pray constantly for God’s will and purpose to be accomplished in all ways and then to engage wherever He directs. If you happen to come to Bozeman, please look us up; it would be nice to fellowship together. karinafoust@gmail.com

Karina, thank you and I sure will. My parents still live there and have since the mid 70s when moving from Eastern Montana to go to college. We must unite around the right principles, not just unite because - and I believe in time we will as the GOP is rebuilt from the bottom up.

Great article! Pretty much highlights the local battle. It's great to know that the ripples of the America First at the local level are being felt at the National.

I've been trying to get involved in my local GOP any way I can, but I keep running into the same problem. When I was young, I hung out with a bad crowd and got into a boatload of trouble - several times. I realized I was only hurting myself and those who loved me, rededicated my life to Christ and have stayed away from trouble and raised a family for over 20 years now. My husband and I just had our 30 year wedding anniversary last week. I thought 23 years was long enough to prove my dedication to a new life and attempted to get involved with my local GOP - and was, not so kindly, rebuffed. I offered to make phone calls, stuff envelopes or go on coffee runs. Anything to be involved and show my grown sons voting and being active in helping change your country and government was a net positive. You'd think I had leprosy they avoided me so completely. I was never a violent criminal and I was never charged with a felony, so I don't understand their reticence. It's not like I'm running for office. I just wanted to support good, Christian, Conservative candidates at the grassroots level in the party closest to my belief system. Any advice on how?

Congratulations!! We celebrated our 30th on July 9th.

I guess the only thing I would ask is if you have the opportunity to share your story in the committee to what extent you are willing. Maybe some will understand grace and forgiveness since we are all sinful. Maybe some don't want you involved because of your faith?

July 16th for us. Congratulations to you as well! I'd be willing to try and that's a great idea. I'll ask if it's possible. I do live in one of the most liberal cities in Florida, so I suppose my faith might be a concern for some. I hope not. I despise this trend of hating on Christians and Jews because of something a politician or activist said.
