Forward Operating Base Flathead (Part 2 of 2)
How Indian Reservation Lands Are Used In Ways Similar To Forward Operating Bases In Combat Zones - They Make The Somalis In Minneapolis Look Like Amateurs
In the first article of this two-part series I discussed how Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) in combat zones compare to tribal Indian reservations in the United States. That was a general overview from a sociological perspective. Now, my focus will be how they operate in negative ways against the United States, and sometimes themselves. The first article concluded with the following anonymous quote from a friend.
“It is definitely an insurgency. I have said that their efforts to become a ‘sovereign nation’ while at the same time being American citizens since 1924 make them secessionists.”
Below I created an easy list of critical functions FOBs provide in a combat theater, which I can confirm having spent four years in Afghanistan and three years in other combat and hazardous deployment areas around the world. I will use this list to demonstrate to you how reservation lands are used in the United States today. What this is NOT intended to do is accuse each tribal member en masse as each person’s story is different, and many are trying to escape what is happening and lead productive lives in our communities. I know many of them myself.
Under each I will provide examples demonstrating how FOBs compare to reservations. My intent is not to overplay the comparison and have the reader instead focus on the actions that are taking place. Anybody can move the points around and fit them into other areas; I ask that you only consider what is happening and highlight these concerns. I will also not provide screen captures or other forms of evidence as I am making an argument from the firsthand experiences of many people I know, not a case able to enter the court system that seems to not care anyway.
This article IS going to provide a bigger perspective, and how these reservations do operate like an “insurgency” as my friend stated above. What should concern you is how reservations are now tied to cartel operations, which I will also explain in greater detail towards the end.
Here we go………
FOBs are “secure, defensible positions” from which to provide or enable:
Maneuver operations and freedom of movement.
Reservation tribal members use a combination of our tax dollars and business funds (typically heavy use of government contracts) to transport members to the state legislature and influence state laws.
Tied to their trips to Helena is an excessive ability to influence our legislators through funding campaigns, business ventures, and over representation in the state legislature. This is done using our tax dollars and business practices that lack transparency.
Members are free to operate in tribal lands mostly out of sight of any government mechanism but their own. America’s tribal members should be the first in line to share their distrust in government, and many do, but to turn around and then use our government (meaning us as taxpayers) in multiple ways to enrich themselves is dishonest and unethical at best.
Extended operational reach within the assigned area of operations. (Force Projection)
Tribal influences led to Senator Steve Daines slipping the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribe (CSKT) water compact into a budget bill Trump signed at the end of his first administration. This gave the CSKT dominant powers over the states’ water supply and rights. In the first summer after the CSKT took over management, the Flathead Lake community was adversely affected by poor management practices tribal leaders attempted to blame on “climate change.” Why is this important beyond the inherent value of water that makes life possible? When quantifying the value of reserved water rights across the reservation landscape in the U.S., the CSKT (Flathead) reaches a value of more than $3B. The next closest is Fort Peck, Montana and just over $1M. Thus, they can project their influence well beyond their boundaries and control a resource of infinite value. This focus on water rights as access should also cause you to question to Data Processing Centers seeking to come to Montana and the power they will need to operate.
The disruption of “enemy” activity.
Montana has several election security laws that won’t or can’t be enforced on reservation lands. I even have evidence on hand of former Senator Jon Tester’s campaign paying reservation members for votes. I have a copy of a check which was cashed at a gas station near a reservation. When tribal leaders think of the rest of Montana as their “enemy,” electoral results are one means to attack us.
The protection of friendly forces and critical assets.
Tribal leaders continuously emphasize they are sovereign nations. In fact, they are actuality Domestic Dependent Sovereigns who rely on the taxpayers to survive, while also exploiting the taxpayers through favorable contract deals with government, and the laundering of money through casinos.
Assisting in these efforts is their current right to enforce their own laws, funding their tribal law enforcement arms. They have successfully convinced Senator Steve Daines to sponsor a bill that would allow them to prosecute any crime committed on their lands even if the person is a U.S. citizen like you or me. This tradition is now causing problems, as I will explain when I cover what drug cartels are doing now.
Command, Control, Coordination.
Every concern listed so far, and those still to be discussed are made possible by “Tactical Operations Centers” (TOCs) like those built on FOBs in combat zones. These operations centers on reservations are called Community Centers, Job Centers, casinos, or other similar designations. The Kicking Horse Job Center in Montana is one example.
Logistics.
Operations rely on logistics and logistics are made possible through funding. Reservations historical reliance on taxpayers has been a fact of history for a long time. The legalization of gambling casinos is newer, and reservation members are also now experts at manipulating business practices.
Force protection.
Everything the tribes are doing now is behind a wall of “force protection.” These walls are formed out of existing tribal boundaries, local up to federal regulations, state and federal law, and cries of “racism” if anybody dares to question what is happening.
I set out with the intent to not share a bunch of evidence, but I will provide some data points that should cause the reader some concern. These data points are solely based on CSKT examples, as this tribe is the wealthiest tribe in the country.
I have a list of federal payments made to CSKT corporations between 2008-2016. There are fifteen corporate entities listed. Eleven of those fifteen were either inactive, dissolved, or never a legitimate entity in the Montana Secretary of State’s business portal. Four were active, with 2026 being the most recent still active incorporation year. THE NUMBER OF BUSINESS ENTITIES STILL RECEIVING PAYMENTS AFTER GOING INACTIVE IS TEN. THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF FUNDING SENT TO INACTIVE BUSINESSES IS $117,365,672.00.
Finally, per internal sources, the CSKT is overseeing a $900M irrigation project, with $800M of that unaccounted for.
I won’t even touch the web of “Non-Governmental Organizations.” But they are a large part of the problem.
Therefore, reservation lands are used to provide a hedge of protection behind laws, regulations, cries of persecution and racism, and wealth to ensure they can fight back against the taxpayers of the United States, while also relying on them for survival. Their targets are numerous.
What about the cartels?
The same hedge of protection built around reservations over decades is now exploited by the cartels and ricocheting back on the tribes. Cartels use the same rules and loopholes to embed themselves on reservations and operate their “business.” Fort Belknap in Montana is infested with the Sinaloa Cartel who operates with near impunity. The cartel takes advantage of the financial needs of tribal members, even to the point of marrying cartel members to tribal members. By doing so they might be able to gain voting rights in the tribe, but any children will gain tribal benefits that are significant. Tribal law enforcement can’t keep up as rape and murder become the norm. Montanans continue to see updates about missing and endangered people from the tribes who, likely, are victims of the cartels as some of the tribal members have tried to become whistleblowers. There are tribal members complicit in this, and there are those who are the victims.
Here is where the FOB and tribal reservation comparison is reversed. The insurgency originates from inside the FOB, rather than on the outside.
America cannot afford to ignore this. If it is happening in Montana, it is happening on reservations across the country. The only winners now are the cartels, tribal leaders (basically like a union boss), and politicians.
